Doctors, historians and archaeologists agree that Jesus suffered
one of the hardest and most painful forms of capital punishment ever
devised by man

xpert doctors, historians and archaeologists have examined in detail the execution that Jesus Christ voluntarily endured. All agree that he suffered one of the most grueling and painful capital punishment ever devised by man. Here is a brief summary of some things we know from history, archeology and medicine about his last hours ...
Severe suffering, even before the beginning of the harassment.
Jesus had the weight of the world on his shoulders. Even before the crucifixion began he clearly had physical symptoms associated with severe stress. The night before the execution, his disciples reported seeing Jesus in "agony" on the Mount of Olives.
Not only did not sleep all night, but seems to have been sweating profusely .. So great was the stress that tiny blood vessels were rupturing in his sweat glands and emitting as great red drops that fell to the ground (see Luke 22:44). This symptom of severe stress is called hematohidrosis. Jesus was physically exhausted and in danger of collapse unless he received fluids (which apparently did not happen). This is the man whom the Roman soldiers tortured.
WHIP WHIP TORTURE WITH ROMAN
Having gone through Jewish hands, was now the turn of the Romans. It is known that the beatings administered by Roman soldiers, were very bloody, leaving lacerations all over his body. The Romans designed their whips to cut the meat from the bodies of their victims. These beatings were designed to be painful in the extreme. Also cause a fluid around his lungs. In addition, a crown of thorns was forced into his scalp which was capable of severely irritating major nerves of the head, causing increasingly severe pain and very sharp, as the hours passed.

In the state of Christ's suffering, these blows were enough to kill him. His body was horribly bruised, cut and bleeding. Having had no food for many hours, and after losing fluids through hemorrhages, Jesus would be severely dehydrated. This brutal torture certainly would have led to what doctors call collapse (shock), and the collapse kills. Furthermore, Jesus was forced to carry the wooden beam on which he would die. Imagine the effect of carrying a heavy load if you were in that condition.
CRUCIFIXION
Being hung naked before the crowd, the pain and damage caused by crucifixion were designed to be so devilishly intense that one would continually long for death, but could linger for days with no relief. According to Dr. Frederick Zugibe, perforation of the median nerve of hand with a nail can cause pain so incredible that even morphine will not help, the pain excruciating, burning, like lightning bolts traversing the arm into the spinal cord. Rupture of the plantar nerve of the foot with a nail would have a similarly horrible. In addition, the position of the body on a cross is designed to make it extremely difficult to breathe. Frederick Farrar described the intended, torturous effect: "For indeed a death by crucifixion seems to include all that pain and death can have of horrible and ghastly - - dizziness, cramps, thirst, starvation, sleeplessness, fever, tetanus, shame, publicity of shame, long life of torment, horror of anticipation, mortification of the wounds not cared - - all intensified to the point where it can be supported, but stopping just below the point which would give the sufferer the relief of unconsciousness. A doctor has called it "a symphony of pain" produced by every movement, every breath, even a slight breeze on your skin can cause intense pain in that momento.El medical examiner, Dr. Frederick Zugibe, believes that Christ died shock due to blood loss and fluid, plus traumatic shock from his injuries, and a cardiogenic shock causing Christ's heart succumbed. At the ninth hour (the time in which a sacrificial lamb was sacrificed each day in the Jewish temple), Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" Which translated means "My God, my God , why have you forsaken me? "And later died after saying" It is finished. "More or less at the moment is probably when he rang the priestly ram's horn that day, announcing that the priest had completed the slaughter of the lamb for the sins of Israel. Also at that time, the large, thick curtain that closed the Holy of Holies in the light, ripped up and oder-Mark 15:34 and Matthew 27:46
James Thompson believed that Jesus did not die from exhaustion, either by blows or 3 hours of crucifixion, but he died for agony of mind which gave her heart breaking. His evidence comes from
happened when the Roman soldier pierced Christ's left side. The Spear released a sudden flow of blood and water (John 19: 34). Not only does this prove that Jesus was already dead when he was pierced, but Thompson believes that this is also evidence of heart break. The renowned physiologist Samuel Houghton believed that only the combination of crucifixion and rupture of the heart could produce this result.
Whatever the final cause of death, no doubt it was painful beyond describable with words. Near the end, a criminal next to him laughed, "If you are the Christ, save thyself and us." Little did this sinner man to whom he spoke was hanging there voluntarily. I was talking to our Creator, capable to unleash the full power of the universe and beyond, and save himself. Jesus was in agony and shame, not because he was impotent, but because of his incredible love for humanity.
He struggled to create the necessary path to salvation for you and me.
